Kopi Tubruk recipe:

  1. Add two teaspoons coarse* ground coffee (sugar** is optional) into a cup.
  2. Boil water and add it to the cup at the boiling temperature.
  3. Stir to mix the coffee grounds and boiled water.
  4. Leave it for about 2-3 minutes to let the boiled water "cook" and marinate the coffee. Wait until most of the ground coffee has settled in the bottom. Any leftover ground coffee that floats on the top can also be removed before drinking.
  5. Enjoy your coffee!

*you can also do medium coarse ground coffee, but not finely ground as it would be difficult for coffee to settle on bottom of cup.

**traditionally, Indonesians used 1-2 small sugar cubes/palm sugar but regular sugar is also fine. Some also add sweetened condensed milk to make it "kopi susu" or milk coffee.
