Papua
Papua, formerly called Irian Jaya, is Indonesia’s largest and eastern-most province. Divided into 2 provinces, Papua and West Papua, they encompasses the western half of New Guinea and several surrounding islands. An area of cultural and biological diversity, it also has one of the most beautiful underwater kingdom in the world. Home to thousands of species of corals, tropical fishes, and mollusks, this breathtaking island is the most diverse living library for the world's coral reef and underwater biota. The Nature Conservancy and Conservation International reported that around 75% of the world's species lives in Papua. Its lush rainforests and mountains offers diverse wildlife including tree kangaroos, birds of paradise and whale sharks of Cenderawasih Bay as well.
